Dick\u2019s <em>Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?<\/em>\u00a0 Don\u2019t get me wrong \u2013 he\u2019s an eerily good science fictionist.\u00a0 His examination of the blurry line between real life and artificial life is as relevant today as it was forty-three years ago (and anticipates genetic engineering).\u00a0 But some of the details of life in the year 2021 are hard to predict that far in advance.\n<p>According to <em>Androids<\/em>, ten years from now,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We will have flying cars.<\/li>\n<li>We will have Skype.\u00a0 (Yeah!)<\/li>\n<li>People with mental disabilities will be referred to as \u201cchickenheads.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>There will be no women in positions of power.<\/li>\n<li>The Soviet Union will come back.\u00a0 People will care what the Soviet Union thinks.<\/li>\n<li>We will have the technology to produce android brains so sophisticated that they are nearly indistinguishable from human beings.<\/li>\n<li>Police investigators will store information about these androids on pieces of paper.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I just finished reading Philip K.
